Lincoln Park Historic Walk up

As with many of our design projects, we first helped our client purchase this unique and special duplex. A converted nineteenth century mansion on one of Lincoln Park's prettiest tree lined streets, the unit’s historically significant bones stole the show. Our client saw the beauty of this properties masonry and decided at the first showing, he wanted to create a warm and cozy cabin. Taking inspiration in colors and tones from a 1700’s Italian villa, this loft quickly went from modern sparkle to old world charm.

Edison Park Bungalow Bathroom

This project was special because it was the client’s dream. Our now retired client had spent decades with a bathroom she just didn’t love. Living in a true Chicago bungalow with just 1 bathroom, we were so excited to give our client the modern spa experience she deserved daily. After ripping out an old tub, low hung soffets, and a very small green vanity, we got to work. This bathroom turned out incredibly. A walk in shower easy to use at any age, featuring a rain shower and bench. A vanity with incredible storage and beautiful stone. A vaulted ceiling accented with macrame plants and beautiful natural light from an existing sky light. To finish off this picture perfect transformation, a marble mosaic floor was added.

Lincoln Park Warehouse Conversion

The Chicago housing market has a long standing challenge with inventory. Our client’s were buying their first home together and had dreams of a two story condo, with serious outdoor space and a kitchen to entertain. This wish list, met with a low inventory market, rising sale prices per the minute and an influx of buyers in a post pandemic market, meant we needed to look outside the box. This warehouse conversion had everything the buyer’s wanted, except the kitchen of their dreams. In comes Michaela. While triple checking that the purchase price allowed room for a serious renovation, these clients went from a storage-less awkward unprofessional kitchen to a posh and stylish kitchen with endless storage and a bar ready to entertain the masses. The epitome of a chef’s kiss.

River North Condo

Welcome to our lead designer’s downtown concrete condo. Every room in the condo has a special Michaela touch to it. This condo is both her sketchpad brought to life, and her space to experiment. Her primary closet doors are repurposed 1950’s garage doors specially reconfigured to give the soft and elegant appearance of old world French doors, standing 9’ tall while adding exposed modern hinges.  Her living room is framed by a reclaimed wood feature wall, custom cabinetry and floating shelves salvaged from a Pre-Chicago Fire Pilsen home. And finally, her newest addition, the spa bathroom. A custom vanity made from a mid century dresser and carefully chosen quartzite. A new tile design alluding to a more handmade, natural, softer world. A tile flooring resembling concrete like the ceilings in the rest of the condo. Each detail was carefully considered and artfully articulated to bring a coziness and warmth into what could quickly become a ultra-modern sterile loft.
